Tekken 6 (360) - Cert 16
1 vs 1 Mode Seems that all of the characters (and there are quite a few) are unlocked along with the various stages.Excellent game mode for playing with a friend on the same console. Did enjoy having a blast with Tekken Bob, he sure has some spectacular moves. The animations are beautiful and the graphics in general are not too bad. Compared to Street Fighter 4 though you can see that the same skill has not been applied in this department. Scenario Mode Different than we first expected. You seem to have to complete stages by battling various baddies as they spawn in front of you as you walk / run down a fixed path way. Some are incredibly easy, others not so. My only gripe is that you have to press the RB to lock on to the baddie that you wish to attack. As you fight your way to the end of the stage, you can pick up money, eggs (?) and weapons (yep there is a nice machine gun). Once you have completed the stage you are then awarded points and credits which you can use to buy new items and clothing. You also unlock / acquire new clothing items as a bonus. The map is a bit strange to get used to and the positioning of the cursor / your character feels like an afterthought. The map seems to be pretty big as most of it is covered in darkness. Not sure if the light areas expand as you progress, but we will soon see. Online Mode After a few issues with connectivity, the developers have taken the time to address this and have truly provided an excellent fix for it. So much so, that we are nowhere near as good as we were before the fix. Darn! You again can pick any of the included fighters and the battles online can get pretty fierce. Its not to hard to pull of the combo moves and specials, a lot easier than Street Fighter 4. Rounds usually comprise of best of 5 so the winner is the one that wins 3 rounds. Ghost Mode This mode enables you to fight uploaded moves from other online players. It serves to better hone your skills than playing against the scripted AI all the time. We enjoyed this mode a lot and spent most of our time in it.Overall Tekken 6 has great appeal for the masses of beat'em'ups, we would expect to see many gamers picking this title up after Christmas when the price should be below the £20 price tag. We give Tekken 6 7/10 |
