    Review: X-Men Origins Wolverine (360)

    X-Men Origins Wolverine (360) - Cert 18

This follows the journey of one of the X-Men characters
"Wolverine" as he gets to grips with his not such human attributes.

The game is played in a third person perspective, which
means that often the camera moves behind the scenery and can block the view when you most need it.  Saying that though it is no way the worst camera action in a game, you only need to play Afro Samurai to see that.

Wolverine plays through the levels and you have many
challenges and quests that you work through to better your characters level and enhance his fighting and regenerating skills.

There are many ways to fight foes and these are
adequately explained during the first few levels.

There are quite a lot of episodes of Quick Time events i.e.
Tap this button fast to unlock something or to defeat an end of level boss.  Though they are quite common these days, they do lead to a player feeling as though the developers have chosen to "cop out" on a feature of the game which could have been done better.

The puzzles are pretty good and do get you thinking.  We
had a few occasions where we could not work out a part of a level and so we rested from the game, only to come back later on and suddenly work out how to get past.

General rule of thumb is that if "you feel frustrated" with a certain puzzle then leave, calm down and then return to the game a few hours later.

The autosave function is okayish, though there were times
when we would have liked to be able to return to a precise point and not have to start from a little way back.

Ultimately the feeling of satisfaction in completing a task and proceeding to the next is more than adequate.

Achievements seem to be pretty easy to obtain, though we have not completed all of them.
There is no online features for this game, but that does not deter from an excellent movie tie-in game.

    We give this game

    8/10
