Guitar Hero: Metallica Mini-Review |

Woah this is so much better than we thought it would be. You can play as lead guitar, bass or band. We have only tried the lead guitar and bass as we lack the other instruments at the moment. We started playing career and you actually start off with a song on a concert stage as the mighty band themselves, if you get this track correct then you will be requested to perform an 'encore'. Just remember that Metallica tracks are somewhat lengthy and so try to avoid the impending RSI which can ensue if you are tense whilst playing. Once completed then its on to the pretty standard stuff, setup band, create persona, choose band name and then sign first contract. First gig is wicked with a selection of 8 songs and steady progression by collecting stars, which is achieved by completing tracks as best you can. Not all songs are from the Metallica stable, which is good because we feel that would get a bit samey. Some tracks are pretty obscure and others you will definitely know "The Boys are Back In Town" from Thin Lizzy and "Ace of Spades" from Motorhead spring to mind. Good for Lemmy. There is plenty to keep you entertained and you don't need the entire band kit (we just played with the GH3 Guitar), though some of the XBOX Live achievements can only be accomplished if you have access to more than one band member playing at a time. Online looks incredible fun, but again we haven't had chance to try this out just yet. Definitely one for the fans of Guitar Hero. We now look forward to Guitar Hero 5 which is due out at the end of this year. 9/10 |
